Breads & Buns

Our bakers start their day by 2am so you have hot, fresh bread every morning.

We believe in making bread the old fashioned way; using artisanal methods such as slow fermentation, hand scaling and shaping and finally baking in small batches to ensure quality.

Our breads do not contain any preservatives or additives so they will only stay fresh for 4-5 days - and we are proud of that! Our spelt bread is made from locally grown and milled spelt. We make three different sourdough breads that contain no added yeast or sugar and are dairy free; white, whole wheat and multigrain. All our sourdoughs begin with a portion of our mother dough that has been alive since 2007! We donate left over bread to Second Harvest and Highland Farm for chicken feed.

We use real butter, local dairy, seasonal fruit and Lindt chocolate in all our delicious creations. Most of our treats come in two sizes: a large and a bite size so you can mix and match treats to take home, to the office or a dinner party. We're always trying something new so you never know what you might find that interests you!

We use real butter, local dairy, seasonal fruit and Lindt chocolate in all our delicious creations.

Our pastries are made every day by hand, the doughs are created from scratch and take days to make; it takes time to fold in all that butter to create just the right amount of flakiness! Our cookies are handmade, each one scooped and weighed to ensure quality and consistency. We bake a fresh selection every day. Muffins and scones are a breakfast treat. We use local buttermilk, seasonal fruit and good quality chocolate to ensure your day is off to a great start.

CakesIf you have a birthday or special event to celebrate think Blue Canoe for your cake!

Our cakes are moist and delicious, handmade from scratch to order. We usually have a few cakes on hand in our cold case but since they don't contain additives, preservatives or hydrogenated oils we only sell them for a few days. We prefer you enjoy our cakes fresh and in the flavour you like so we'd be happy to make your cake upon order.

Our icings are made with real butter, full fat cream cheese and D Dutchmen whip cream. Our cakes can be matched with several different icing options including our Swiss meringue buttercream, cream cheese icing or whip cream. You pick the cake flavour, the icing type and flavour and we'll bake it up for you!

We have a few speciality cakes: our black forest and our very own Blue Canoe cake.

Our Black Forest is a classic done right! Rich chocolate cake soaked with cherry liquor, handmade cherry filling, chocolate ganache and real whipped cream.

Blue Canoe Cake

Our Blue Canoe cake is something entirely unique and special. The original consists of two layers of rich chocolate cake with a layer of vanilla cheesecake in the middle, iced with chocolate buttercream. We think it's pretty terrific but folks have been mixing it up to create their own tasty creation... carrot cake instead of chocolate, chocolate cheesecake instead of vanilla. The possibilities are endless!

Wedding CakesWe take great pride in the wedding cakes we create

...we believe they should be the sweet ending to your special day. We love to create new and unique designs, we enjoy working with each couple individually to ensure you get the wedding cake you're dreaming of. We have a gallery of our work but are very open to your ideas and coming up with something new and tailored to suit your needs.

Each of our wedding cake tiers are three layers of cake and stand approximately 4.5-5" tall. They can be round, square, diamond, heart shaped or we can carve the cake into several other unique shapes. You bring the ideas and pictures and we will bring it to life!

We have done some very exciting and fun 3D shaped cakes that really stand out at events. As we are a small bake shop and attention to detail is important to us we book no more than two weddings on any given weekend so the sooner you book the better. We like to sit down with our wedding clients and have a personal consultation to provide an accurate quote. If you are not in town we can communicate via phone an email.
